A couple of days ago I traveled by subway to meet a colleague and retrieve my US passport, complete with my newly-acquired resident permit! :) I am now proud to call myself a "transplanted Beijinger!" As I left the subway station, I came across the sign below. I passed it and then backed up and took a photo. It's posted here for a couple of friends who are connected with a well-known accounting agency in the U.S.! Perhaps it should also be the new marketing campaign for this company: Ever Honest! :)
Today, as I was mailing several cards off to family in the States at my local post office, I saw and purchased some postcards celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year....the Year of the Rat (mouse)! These postcards are special (although you can't tell it) because as you move them back and forth the little mice move within their sports activities! :) No doubt in celebration of the Beijing Olympic Games! :) What an exciting time Beijing is about to experience!
So cute! My friend, Wishing, also gave everyone wonderful handmade "mice" that her mother handcrafted to celebrate Chinese New Year! I'm very happy to own one! :)
Someone actually left their great gift of a tennis shoe "wobbly" clock at my apartment after the Christmas Eve party! :) Since everyone is returning this Monday night for the follow-up New Year's Eve party, I have feeling it might get claimed. Until then....it's mine! :)
Stay tuned for New Year's Eve photos! :) I hear the fireworks are rampant! Until about 2 years ago, setting off fireworks in Beijing was forbidden. No longer. :) You might imagine how crazy it's going to be with the fireworks for Chinese New Year!
